Well, the 2006 Bridgeport Trout Tournament was a great success! With over 50 registered anglers, everyone from kids to adults had a great time. Bridgeport Reservoir seemed to be the place for the bigger fish and the heaviest stringers this year with Tom McMaster of Bridgeport weighing in a 7lb 4oz Rainbow from the East Walker channel of the Reservoir, this fish took the top honors and the heaviest catch for the day! Tom won over $1,000 worth of tackle with this fish!! The heaviest stringer award of the day went to Brian Jones, summer resident of Bridgeport, with a 14lb 14oz limit, heaviest catch in the men's division was Terry Tizzard of Costa Mesa with a 2lb rainbow (McMaster was allowed to qualify in only one prize winning slot). Southland angler Marge Tanaka won the women's division largest fish with a 1lb 11oz rainbow, and the heaviest stringer in the women's division was brought in by Jennifer Jarrett of Pleasanton, Ca. weighing 4lb 3oz. In the kids division, Kara Hirmatsu had the largest fish with a 3lb 8oz rainbow, and the heaviest stringer went to Tsiidopi Minder with a 7lb 15oz limit.
Proceeds from this annual event are earmarked for the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce Fisheries Enhancement Program. This program is in the process of rearing about 15,000 brown trout to plant in local waters. All donations to the program are greatly appreciated!!
