Over the last weekend, there were several anglers on the East Walker, me included. I fished about 3 or so hours and was able to catch 9 fish. Most were around 13 or 14 inches, with one brown that stretched to about 18”. I caught fish on Nori’s caddis in green, olive tailwater tiny’s, and Barr’s flashback emergers in BWO. The fish were plenty feisty, though it was a little cold over the weekend. It sounds like the other folks on the river had some success on nymphs as well, there were a couple youngsters that caught fish, and a novice or two from the area that caught fish as well. We’re supposedly in for some weather for the next week or so, this is a good thing, we can still use some more snow! Keep your eye on the weather and when it clears I would guess the fishing should be good!!
Backing down – 1. A maneuver in which the captain of a charter boat reverses his craft toward a hooked fish to remove stress on a fisherman’s line. 2. A maneuver in which the fisherman retracts ill-advised comments made to the captain following conversion of a prize fish into chowder in the boat’s propellers.
