Many of you know Nick Lawton from here in the shop and down on Crowley Lake, Nick’s been guiding fly anglers in the area for the last few years. Nick has developed quite a following from Crowley to the East Walker. Nick had a couple of clients on the East Walker last season, Gary Whipple and Craig Johnston. Gary and Craig had a great day on the river and took a liking to Nick and asked him if he’d ever thought of guiding in other locals, like maybe say…Patagonia? Nick’s eyes lit up and he told the guys that it had been a long-time dream of his to hit the water in someplace like that. Well, to make a long story short, Gary and Craig made a few calls to some friends that run a lodge in Patagonia, got Nick hooked up with them, Nick made a few calls, and after a few days, Nick was all scheduled to catch a flight out for the winter!
Nick bugged out in December, and since then I’ve received a few emails from him with a few photos and stories of how things are going. He says it’s pretty incredible! Nick works both rivers and lakes at his winter guiding job, and it looks like he’s been getting his clients in to some killer rainbows and browns while over there. Here at Ken’s we’re just a little jealous of Nick and his new job, we can’t wait to hear some great tales of tails when he returns for the summer season here in the Eastern Sierra!
