2008 Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation

Trout Tournament

The big fish honors for the 2008 Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation Trout Tournament went to Jeff Brown of Orange, Ca. this year. The 4lb 9oz rainbow was caught on Bridgeport Reservoir. There were lots of other winners in the tourney this year, including Jeff’s son Skyler who won the heaviest stringer prize in the kids division with a stringer that weighed in at 6lb 3oz. Also on the winners list were Randy Kroll of Alpine, Ca. with the heaviest stringer in the adult division with a 6lb 8oz stringer. Rick Gieser, Jr. of Bridgeport, Ca. won the biggest fish in the kids division with a 3lb 13oz rainbow.

There were lots and lots of other prizes given away for lots of other categories including rod and reel combos, gift certificates and lots of tackle. Special thanks go out to Mark Haines of Eagle Claw and Bob Reed of Hendrix Outdoors for helping make this years event a great success.

It looks like the event raised a net of about $4,000 for the Fish Enhancement Foundation, this money will go directly to raising trout for stocking in the Bridgeport area. This Foundation is a grass roots endeavor that has grown over the last few years and is now looking at raising as many as 25 to 50 thousand fingerling trout to catchable size and releasing them in the local Bridgeport waters. This foundation wouldn’t be possible without the support of many people and organizations that feel it’s necessary to start taking care of our own waters.
