| August 30, 2010 EAST WALKER RIVER- The flows on the river are about 270 today, the best action lately has been mainly with small midges and caddis nymphs though we have had a couple good reports on small dries like light cahills and parachute adams. The weather has been a bit cooler this past few days with night time temps below freezing, this has lowered the temps on the river to the mid 60's the past few days, the fish are healthy and still fairly hungry. Patterns to try include zebra midges, tailwater tiny's, gt emergers, flashback emergers, buckskin caddis, fox's poopah, z-wing caddis and bead head swimming caddis. SCEIRINE RANCH -The Sceirine is still fishing excellent, lots of action down there with nymphs and some good streamer action as well. Birds nest, princes, pheasant tails, fox's poopah, gold bead caddis, buckskin caddis, copper johns, zuddlers, articulated monkey's and zonkers have all been doing well. HUNEWILL POND - We haven't had anyone on the pond this past week, but as soon as we do I'll pass along the info. BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR - The reservoir is still fishing pretty good these days, it seems like the upper end has grown quite a bit of algae lately and the fish have moved and spread out all the way down towards the dam. I was out there this morning trolling and we started catching fish within about 500 yards of the marina, and kept catching fish all the way down to the dam. There were several areas down near the dam where we metered lots of fish in the top 15 feet of water. We also saw a couple folks with some nice stringers on the shoreline down near the dam, it looked like they were bait fishing. Crawlers, powerbait, and power eggs for bait, good lures include rapalas, needlefish and kastmasters, and for flies it would be blood midges, zebra midges, gt emergers, pheasant tails and soft hackles. KIRMAN LAKE -We've had a few good reports from Kirman this week, mainly later in the week when the weather cooled down. Leech and damsel patterns as well as scud patterns have been doing the best. Stillwater nymphs, seal buggers, goat leeches, dainty damsels, and flashback scud have all been doing pretty good. TWIN LAKES - The Twins are fishing well this past week also, trolling with needlefish and small rapalas has been good, bait fishing with power bait and crawlers has been good, we've also had some good reports with dry flies in the evenings from the shorelines, small griffiths gnats, para adams and gulper specials seem to be working well. WEST WALKER RIVER - The West is fishing well with flies and bait lately, eggs and crawlers for bait and for flies go with hoppers, beetles, ants, humpies, princes and pheasant tails. The water is low though normal for this time of year, so search out the deeper pools and hang on to your rod. VIRGINIA LAKES - The V-Lakes are still fishing excellent, lots of action for spinning and flies. Kastmasters and Jakes Spin-a-Lures have been doing well, power eggs, power bait and crawlers are doing well, and for flies try wooly buggers, matukas, goat leeches, beetles, ants and soft hackles. |
| FYI July 11, 2009 - The Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation recently planted 700 pounds worth of 3/4 lb rainbows in Bridgeport Reservoir and Virginia Creek, as well as approximately 1000 browns in Virginia Creek and 2000 browns in Robinson Creek, these browns were also around 3/4 lb.
